$2,500 — that’s the average scholarship amount awarded to Austin Community College District (ACC) students every year. All students need to do is complete one form — the General Scholarship Application — for the chance to be connected to hundreds of scholarship opportunities. The app may be submitted at any time, but those who submit by May 1 receive priority consideration for fall 2022.
“Finding a way to pay for college is one of the biggest reasons students don’t apply for college. It is our mission to make sure everyone gets the support they need to better themselves and achieve their goals,” says Jason Briseno, executive dean of Financial Assistance and Veterans Affairs. “We don’t want concerns over money to stop anyone. Scholarships are just one way we can provide the support our community needs.”
During the 2021-22 school year, the ACC Foundation awarded scholarships to 750 students totaling approximately $1.5 million.
"Austin Community College is a school for those who seek opportunities, second chances, and self-improvement. The scholarships offered by the school make it possible for people like me to achieve their dreams and do what they want with their lives,” says Kristian Quaye, ACC scholarship recipient.
ACC’s General Scholarship Application is a single app that includes a brief series of questions and requires students to submit a short, personal statement. It’s the only step needed to be considered for all scholarship opportunities at the college.
Students who want support or guidance completing the application are encouraged to make an appointment with a Strategic Programs Specialist to receive 1-on-1 help. The college’s in-house experts review all applications to match students with a scholarship that meets their unique needs. All GPAs and majors are encouraged to apply.
