The job market is booming in Central Texas and so is the need for trained employees to fill the vacancies. Registration is now open to everyone for summer courses at Austin Community College District (ACC).
“Summer is the perfect time to reduce your educational workload and spread it out through the year and accelerate reaching your goals and getting into a new chapter of your life,” says Dr. Monique Umphrey, ACC provost. “ACC continues to remain adaptable to our students and community needs.”
According to the Texas Workforce Solutions and Austin Chamber, 54 percent of Austin employees will need significant retraining or reskilling to fill the job demands. On top of that, a Monster.com survey found 95 percent of the workforce is thinking of quitting their current job for new opportunities.
Flexibility remains a top priority, to fit all schedules. ACC offers four ways to learn, including: flexible online, scheduled online, hybrid, and in-person class options. ACC staff are ready to work with students 1-on-1 to help them apply and register. For custom support registering for classes, students may contact ACC’s Registration Stations.
ACC also will offer extra support to apply, register, and pay for classes on Saturday, April 23, at the Highland Campus Phase 2 Grand Opening Community Open House from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.. In addition to personal support, the open house will feature more than 40 programs in high demand with hands-on demonstrations, interactive tours, panel discussions, workshops, and employer meet-and-greets.
ACC’s summer course schedule is available online. Classes begin Tuesday, May 31. For information about getting started, visit austincc.edu/summer.
