For second straight year, ACC named Best Place for Working Parents

For the second straight year, Austin Community College District (ACC) is designated the Best Place for Working Parents. Based on a series of questions, the college was recognized for its family-friendly policies, employee resources, and programs that support working parents.

“I’m honored that ACC has been recognized as one of Austin’s best places for working parents for the second year in a row. This is a testament to the family-friendly work policies and practices we have at ACC,” says Dr. Richard Rhodes, ACC chancellor. “The pandemic has really shown us the importance and need for grace and flexibility and we will continue to explore ways in which we can best support our employees — especially our working parents.”

The college was and was honored for its values and work to create and maintain a sustainable, safe, and healthy environment for students and employees. ACC offers multiple resources to working parents including: 

  • Paid healthcare coverage
  • Paid vacation and sick leave
  • Paid maternity and paternity leave
  • Private lactation rooms and refrigerator for milk storage
  • Ability to shift schedules
  • Ability to work from home
  • FSA Dependent Day Care
  • Dependent coverage offered for medical and dental (employee paid)
  • In addition to these services, ACC also partners with Deer Oaks to provide mental and physical support for all employees. Programs include:

The Deer Oaks Maternity at Work Program: Focus on the health and well-being of the expectant or new mother and her family. Deer Oaks counselors help new mothers remain focused on workplace objectives so they can maintain healthy performance while placing extreme emphasis on the physical and mental health of mom and baby.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP): EAP provides free and confidential assessments, short-term counseling, referrals, prevention, and education services for you and your dependents.
