For the eighth consecutive year, tuition and fees will remain at just $85 per credit hour for in-district students at Austin Community College District (ACC). The ACC Board of Trustees unanimously approved the proposed tuition and fee rates for 2021-22 during its regular meeting Monday, May 3. The rates remain unchanged for in-district students and beginning this fall, fees will drop for out-of-district and out-of-state students to help make college more affordable for everyone.
“I am proud that this Board of Trustees continues to prioritize affordable and accessible education for everyone and focuses on the success and achievement for all students,” says Dr. Nan McRaven, ACC Board of Trustees chair. “The Trustees realize that our community, the taxpayers, and our students are best served by keeping the cost of tuition and taxes low.”
“At ACC, it is important we take any steps we can to alleviate the financial barriers many students face when deciding to go to college,” says Neil Vickers, executive vice president of Finance and Administration. “Keeping our tuition low, and letting students know early, allows them to make plans for their career and educational goals for summer and fall.”
Trustees also voted to lower fees for out-of-district and out-of-state students by $81 and $75 respectively. The new rates align with ACC Board policy to lower costs for students who live out-of-district. The change still maintains a sizable difference between those who live in-district. Students who live within the district support the college through tax dollars and receive lower tuition and fees. In-district students at ACC save approximately 80 percent in tuition and fees on a two-year degree compared with other area institutions.
