Austin Community College (ACC) works to connect students with financial support to help them stay on track toward their college and career goals. Extra support, in addition to continued resources, is available during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
Below is a list of financial support opportunities available to ACC students.
Scholarships
Just one application connects ACC students to generous scholarship opportunities. In 2019/20, scholarship recipients received an average of $2,000 which supports tuition and fees for students. For more information, or to apply, visit austincc.edu/scholarships.
Applying for Financial Aid
ACC awards more than $70 million annually to help students pay for classes, books, and living expenses. To learn what students qualify for, they must fill out a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). ACC processes financial aid year-round, and students may receive money for classes already finished. Non-citizens and undocumented students with Texas residency also may apply for state aid through Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA). Click here for more details.
For more information, visit ACC’s Financial Aid webpage.
Payment Plans
ACC offers interest-free payment plans to help ease the burden of paying for classes.
Payments can be split into three equal sums during the spring and fall semesters and two payments during the summer semester. Payment plans are available for all credit courses and certain continuing education courses.
For more information, visit austincc.edu/paymentplans.
Grants
ACC students are eligible for support from four grant programs including Federal Pell Grants, Federal Supplemental Education Opportunity Grant, Texas Public Education Grant, and Texas Educational Opportunity Grant. Grants range from $300 to more than $3,000 per semester. Funding for each grant is limited. To explore eligibility requirements, or apply, visit austincc.edu/grants.
CARES Act
ACC was awarded more than $13 million through the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund, a new federal grant funded by the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act of which at least 50 percent will be designated for student emergency aid.
Current and newly enrolled students impacted financially by the COVID-19 pandemic are encouraged to apply through the CARES Act Student Aid webpage.
The college will review all applications to match students with the best financial support options. For more information, visit austincc.edu/caresaid.
Student Emergency Fund
ACC tripled its support to students facing hardships through the Student Emergency Fund, which provides immediate financial assistance to students who experience unexpected emergencies during the semester. The fund may be used to make up for lost income, pay rent and utilities, buy groceries, access remote learning tools, and cover other necessary expenses. During the COVID-19 outbreak, funding also was extended to help cover tuition.
