Shasta Buchanan, associate vice president of College and High School Relations, was selected to serve as one of 15 National Ambassadors through the College in High School Alliance Network. The Ambassadors Network is an advisory panel of practitioners, policymakers, and experts from the wider dual enrollment, concurrent enrollment, and early college high school community.

Melissa Biegert, Early College High School director, was selected as a board member for National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships, the national accrediting body for dual credit programs.

Barbara Foreman, Highland Campus Test Administrator, was recently appointed to the Austin Area Urban League Guild. The guild is responsible for fundraising and coordinating special events. Barbara's first task was to assist with the league's 2019 Equal Opportunity Day Gala, during which the famous Alvin Ailey Dance Company performed.

Sam Greer, director of Employer Outreach & Experiential Learning Programs, is serving as the Texas Cooperative Education and Internship Association president.

Jessica Horta-Perez was promoted to ACC District Police lieutenant, making her the first female to hold this position.

Dahlia Anzaldua Torres, ACC Marketing Event coordinator, was elected to the board of the Texas Association of Community Colleges Marketers, a statewide consortium of marketing and public relations professionals for public community and technical colleges in Texas. The organization serves as a clearinghouse for information, promotes public community and technical colleges in Texas, and serves in an advisory capacity to other statewide organizations. She will serve as the Central Texas Regional Director, a two-year appointment.

Jeffrey Johannigman, Faculty Development coordinator, will be presenting at the 2019 ATD Austin Leader in Learning Conference on November 1. His presentation topic is "Turning Work Into Play."

Dr. Sarah Porter, Student Affairs completion counselor and Student Development adjunct faculty, was recently selected to participate in the 2019 Designing for Social Systems program at Stanford University's d.school, a training for "social innovators committed to systems-level change" within the nonprofit, government, social enterprise, and philanthropy sectors. Alongside a cohort of global leaders and practitioners, Dr. Porter participated in a multi-day experiential workshop that brought together principles of design thinking and strategic planning. She will receive ongoing coaching from the d.school on how to best integrate human-centered design into her work.

Jun (Sunny) Shen, adjunct assistant professor of Dance, and ACC alumni Jack Dunlap performed with Blue Lapis Light Aerial Dance for In Light 2019. The event featured aerialists performing off the side of IBC Bank, dancers on Chinese poles, as well as an ensemble of dancers.

Carolynn Reed, Math department chair and developmental associate professor, was published by the League for Innovation in the Community College. Her article, "Evolution of Developmental Math at Austin Community College: the Power of Corequisites," appeared in its September 2019 online magazine, League Connections.
