Between final exams, registration, and the holidays, the end of the year can be challenging for some students and the Student Services team is doing what it can to help students succeed.
Expanded ACCelerator Hours
To help students reach their academic goals, ACCelerators at Highland and Round Rock campuses are hosting “Power Up for Finals.” From December 3 through December 15, the campus ACCelerators will expand hours of operation Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. until midnight. ACCelerators also will provide one-on-one guidance including study tips, power snacks, free scantrons, earplugs, and more to better assist students through the exam period.
Stress Less Campus Events
The Student Life team is providing students with stress relieving activities, wellness resources and much more during the week of December 10-14. Students can take a break and calm those “finals nerves” by taking part in various events such as making their own holiday gifts, snacking on pancakes while getting a pep talk, and thinking of others by making care packages for the homeless or cards for children at Dell Children's Hospital. Check out all the happenings at the different campuses.
Food Security
Every ACC campus hosts a food pantry within their Student Life lounge. Snacks, meal items, and community resources are available to all current ACC students and their dependents. Students can access the pantry Monday through Friday from, 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m., and Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
The college has also partnered with the Central Texas Food Bank to provide FREE fresh and healthy foods to ACC students. The mobile food truck will be at the Riverside Campus on the first Friday of every month from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. rain or shine. There is a limit of one box per household. Please bring your own bag. More information and an intake form are available on the Student Life website.
Student Emergency Fund
For students who have unexpected financial difficulties that will prevent them from successfully registering in the spring, ACC offers a Student Emergency Fund. Students are allowed to access emergency funds once per year to help pay for unexpected financial expenses such as large utility bills, car repairs or transportation issues, family emergencies, and more. Last academic year, ACC awarded about $149,000 in aid, with an average gift of $748 per student. Students may call 512-223-7551 for more information or visit the Student Emergency Fund webpage to apply.
Registration Stations
Students who need additional help in the new year registering for spring classes may visit collegewide registration stations for one-on-one support. Stations will be open January 3 through January 18 for in-person enrollment assistance.
